Contra A Copa: The Other Side of Brazil’s World Cup

With Brazil probably being the most football obsessed country in the whole wide world, it first seemed kind of logic, that the country should host the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

But with the Brazilian government spending somewhat 14 billion dollars on the tournament, whilst the country’s citizens – amongst other things – are struggling with poverty, the FIFA World Cup should eventually take an entire country by storm, with numerous police and military appearances, in attempt to suppress the masses.

During this time, VICE News traveled on site, not only to display on how the country prepared for the most expensive World Cup of all times, but more on how Brazil was simultaneously struggling to control a mounting civil uprising.
